School After Harvey

The day has come. School is to be resumed. It would have came sooner, but Harvey decided to impose on our livelihood and caused a delay on so many things preplanned.

These last couple of weeks, we have been trying to rebuild what once was our lives. You know what though? It has been a challenge that we have taken on without a moment’s hesitation.

We are Texans! We are Strong! You know, #houstonstrong.

It is now time to try to welcome some normalcy, get back to our regular schedules. School is to resume not only for my kiddos but also for me! Yep, that’s right, I am returning to my community college.

It has been a long time comin’!

I am excited and nervous. It’s a good kind of nervousness. I am feeling this confidence as a source of power and ready to take on anything that comes my way.

I have organized my desk, which by the way, at some point ended up being somewhat of a laundry corner. I have fully stocked any and all school supplies I may need; such as paper, printer ink, notebooks, etc.

I feel like I’m back in grade school, and the only thing missing is my outfit laid out ready for tomorrow. Except, I’m taking online courses, so I think I can get away with being in my jammies while I do school work?

It may seem like a small or silly thing to look forward to but those of you that were barricaded inside your homes during the hurricane completely understand where I am coming from! Am I right?!

Yes, we are blessed that we survived and for the first time we are looking forward to lunches packed, early mornings, traffic, school work and repeat.

Are you ready?
